Welcome to Phil's, the first supermarket in the rapidly-growing online world called Second Life.
Phil's is all about:
Empowering and educating people about food, health and the latest trends that affect our every day lives - and celebrating food!
I'm Phil Lempert (both In World and Real World) and I'm known as the Supermarket Guru, food editor for NBC's TODAY Show, host of a weekly radio show and writer. When in that "other world" you can check me out at www.supermarketguru.com.
Why have I decided to build a supermarket in Second Life? Because virtual worlds are the future, and I want to show the food world just how important it is to use technology to build a relationship with their consumers and to communicate all their products attributes.
My goal is to have Phil's become the center of food communication - for both SL and the Real World. Whether it's the newest of new product, or discussion about the latest food safety disaster - we want Phil's to be where you get the unbiased and accurate information.
Residents can actually "pre-shop" for the Real World - comparing product information, nutritional information, getting recipes from our fully interactive store "shelves" and with just a touch sending the information directly to your Real Life email or cell phone.
Phil's is all about building a food based community in Second Life.
Celebrity chefs, cooking demonstrations and seminars are daily events in our Food Forum and Cooking Studio - where Residents not only learn but can also ask IM questions, and be able to view each event at their leisure thru SLTV afterwards.
Our service departments are run by experts - Sal the Butcher, Betty the Baker and Fred the Fish Monger are just a few of our department managers that serve our shoppers needs - and you can leave questions or interact with out AI bots 24 hours a day.
Phil's in-store shopping experience is second to none - with virtual samplings (look for the gold sparkle), promotions (look for the blue sparkle), interactive videos, wine tastings, special week-long events, store tours, monthly newsletter, frequent shopper rewards program, and more!
Rick's Wine Cellar and Maxwell House Café are located in the center of the store. Both are community areas for social gatherings and just a place to hang out with friends. Our community bulletin board in the Café is there for you to use to reach out and communicate with other Residents.
I urge you to visit the KraftFoods.com interactive area behind us, here are real world tools that will give you access to food calculators, Kraft's vast recipe library and just about every thing you need to know about the foods we eat and how to prepare them.
Each week we will be adding more and more features and products to Phil's. My goal is to have the best supermarket ever created - and I hope you will offer your ideas and suggestions on how we can make it just that!
I welcome your thoughts - feel free to IM me - or put a suggestion in our suggestion boxes.
